What Are Invisible Braces?
You may know them as clear aligners, which is another very common term you’ll see and hear. Invisible braces are made of clear plastic rather than metal. Instead of being bonded to your teeth, they fit over them. Invisible braces are also removable, which means you don’t have to do anything special to keep your teeth clean, and you can take them off when you eat and drink, so no food will ever get stuck in them.
How Invisible Braces Work
When you start treatment with invisible braces, we’ll give you a series of clear aligner trays. You’ll wear your aligners for 22 hours a day, removing them when it’s time to eat, drink, and brush and floss. About every 10 days, you’ll exchange your aligner trays for the next set in the series until you’ve gone through all the sets in your treatment plan.
Since your invisible braces are made of clear plastic, you’ll actually be able to see your progress as time passes! Most of our patients, especially our teens, get excited when they first notice their teeth are shifting and become even more motivated to keep up with their treatment plan.
As your treatment progresses, you’ll visit us for checkups so we can make sure everything is going as planned and that you’re comfortable with your invisible braces. As long as you wear your aligners for at least 22 hours a day, you should finish treatment on schedule!
